In certain circumstances, the WCU may remove property and/or equipment from residential units so that these units can be used for other emergency purposes. WCU is not responsible for the loss or deterioration of the occupant`s personal belongings, which must be moved and stored in such cases. The Residence Hall Agreement may be terminated for the following reasons, without violating the agreement: Any student residing in a residence must sign a Residence Hall Agreement for the entire academic year, summer programs or part of a remaining semester when the student moves into the dormitory. Students who must meet the residency requirement but do not sign a Hall Residence Contract must pay room and meal fees for the remainder of the time required to meet the residence hall requirement, as approved by the WCU Foundation Board. Students who do not comply with the Residence Hall agreement will be charged an early termination fee, as outlined in this agreement. After the end of the spring semester and learning about the aggravating factors around COVID-19, the need to amend the agreement on residences20-2021 became clear. Universities across North Carolina are updating their housing agreement and the University of West Carolina is no different. University residences are an integral part of campus life and offer a wide variety of experiences that enhance a student`s intellectual, personal and social development. The Department of Residential Housing supports a basic philosophy of student housing that introduces students who live in the early stages of their university experience at WCU and move towards living in private roommates before graduating from the WCU. This contract provides accommodation for students taking courses. This contract is not considered a lease and is not specified. The relationship between WCU and those entitled to think is purely contractual and is not considered a landlord-tenant. These include monitoring residential staff, monitoring of higher education policies and procedures for campus residences, and monitoring of traditional North Campus Residence Halls and the South Campus Apartment Complex. Notwithstanding the contrary provisions of this Agreement, the WCU may adapt, temporarily close and/or limit the use of residences, in accordance with the provisions of this Agreement alone, in order to preserve the health and safety of residents and the campus community. The WCU and residents recognize the lingering possibility that due to a health or safety emergency, including the COVID 19 outbreak, residents may not be able to occupy campus housing or that residents may be significantly restricted from using campus housing. This is for students who want to live on campus in 2021-2022, but have not yet completed the selection of rooms. The spaces for this level are assigned to a first-step, first-served process. All Residence Hall agreements receive a transfer number based on the date the contract is executed.
